Get a good look at Justin Bieber’s new tattoo, Letterman! Justin Bieber got new ink on July 4, 2012, despite David Letterman’s warning that he might start looking like a mural that belongs in the Sistine Chapel. The new Bieber tattoo is inked in an ancient Japanese style of writing called kanji, and speaks to an important influence in the singer’s life. Read on to learn more about Justin Bieber’s new tat!
David Letterman’s words of warning obviously didn’t have too much influence on Justin Bieber, since the 18-year-old singer got another new tattoo just two weeks after his friendly scuffle with the late night TV show host over his “believe” arm tat. On July 4, 2012, Justin Bieber got a new tattoo – another piece on his arm – even though Letterman told him two weeks prior that he should slow down, warning him not to “go nuts” with all the body ink. But it seems like Bieber has ignored the advice and celebrated Independence Day in his own way – with a brand new Japanese arm tattoo. Justin Bieber’s new tattoo is a Japanese symbol that means “music,” and is inked on the 18-year-old’s inner right forearm. The music-inspired tattoo is inked in an ancient Japanese style of writing called kanji, which is used in the modern Japanese writing system.
Bieber’s Permanent Shout-Out to Music
The Biebs must have realized that his religion-inspired tats were becoming a bit overwhelming – what with the Hebrew “Jesus” side tattoo, the slightly creepy Jesus image on his calf and the praying hands inked just below that one – and changed gears, at least for now. The two most recent Justin Bieber tattoos have instead referenced the Biebs’ love for music, and both mark just how far the Canadian pop star has come in the past few years. In June 2012, Bieber got a new piece inked on his left arm that says “Believe” in funky black block letters, a tribute to his third (and very successful) studio album. Along the same vein, this new Justin Bieber tattoo is a simple, subtle representation of something that clearly means a lot to the 18-year-old: music.
JB Celebrates His Independence
While most people choose to spend their 4th of July watching fireworks and enjoying the day off work, Justin Bieber decided to hit up the tattoo parlor and get his second tat in just two weeks. It may have just been a coincidence, but isn’t it interesting that the Biebs chose July 4th, or Independence Day, as the day he was going to get some new ink? If that was his goal, getting another new tattoo is a great way for Justin Bieber to show his own independence, but from whom? It’s hard to imagine Bieber’s tatted-up dad having any problem with the pop star following in his footsteps, but what about Selena? Bieber’s long-time girlfriend has certainly established herself as a sweet, innocent young lady, so could she have a problem with Bieber’s relatively new-found love of tattoos?
