On the same night that Rita Ora added a new ballerina tattoo to her growing collection, the inked-up pop star also added a brand-new feather tattoo to her hand. During her stay at The Mercer Hotel in New York City on the weekend of June 9, Rita commissioned celebrity tattoo artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy to ink a delicate and very realistic feather on the outside of her right hand in black and white, in addition to the elegant ballerina tattoo he placed on the outside of her right tricep. Rita Ora wasn’t the only celebrity with big tattoo plans that weekend though; Justin Bieber had reportedly planned to join Rita for the tattoo session, but was a no-show, and British model Cara Delevingne added a new “DD” tattoo to her hip that very same night.

Rita Ora has always loved tattoos, which she considers a form of art, but the singer has been on a bit of a rampage lately, adding three new tattoos to her collection over the past week alone, as rumors continue to swirl about her heartbreaking split from boyfriend Calvis Harris. These rumors first started when Rita Ora and our very own Justin Bieber got close to one another while recording, and, according to reports, the two pop stars were supposed to go under the needle together that night at The Mercer Hotel.

Apparently, the epic tattoo session with Bang Bang, which was overseen by gal pal Cara Delevingne, was arranged by Rita while hanging out with none other than Justin Bieber. “Rita called me, like, two weeks ago when she bumped into Justin Bieber, because I tattoo him, too,” Bang Bang said. “They called me together like, ‘Hey! We’re coming to get tattoo’d.” Unfortunately, Justin ended up being a no-show, but Rita scored two new Bang Bang originals – her ballerina arm tattoo and the feather tattoo on her hand – in a session that lasted from about 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

As far as Rita Ora’s feather tattoo goes, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Feathers are one of the most popular tattoo designs out there, especially for women, due in large part to their various possible meanings. For some people, feather tattoos symbolize luck, while other people opt for feather tats that represent hope, faith or a loved one lost. According to Bang Bang though: “[Rita’s feather tat] might be somewhat common but it’s super, super unique.” What do you think Rita Ora’s feather tattoo stands for?
