Zayn Malik’s New Zealand Fantail Bird Tattoo on the Back of His Neck

Although one of Zayn Malik’s major tattoo goals was completing the half sleeve on his right arm, the One Direction singer took a break from the arm tattoos in April 2012, adding a unique tat to the back of his neck instead. Zayn’s neck tattoo features a black and white image of a New Zealand fantail, a small bird that is native to New Zealand and is best known for its high energy and friendly “cheet cheet.” After getting his neck tattoo inked, Zayn posted a pic of himself and his tattoo artist on Twitter, along with the caption: “Zayn is getting a new tatt every week now LOL WTF.” We’ll ignore the fact that Zayn referred to himself in the third person and concentrate on the neck tattoo instead. Zayn got the fantail tattoo inked in New Zealand during the band’s Up All Night tour, while the rest of the One Direction boys were off watching a rugby match. Zayn Malik’s tattoo features a black and white image of the bird’s tail, which looks remarkably like a fan, and the ink was probably meant as a reminder of the New Zealand leg of One Direction’s first-ever headlining concert tour.
