Zayn Malik’s Side Tattoo w/ Playing Card, Initials and Crown

Zayn Malik’s Side Tattoo w/ Playing Card, Initials and Crown
By | On September 24, 2011

One of Zayn Malik’s earlier tattoos was the playing card he had inked on his ribcage in September 2011, right around the same time he got the Chinese “born lucky” symbol inked on his hip. Zayn’s side tattoo features an outline of a playing card with a crown inked in the center and his initials “ZM” below the crown. Zayn was raised a Muslim and his last name Malik means “king” or “ruler” in Arabic, which is why he decided to include the crown in his ribcage tattoo, as a celebration of his background. This is much better than the meaning behind Justin Bieber’s tattoo of a crown, which apparently means he thinks he is the prince of pop.

There is a common theme of luck or good fortune among many of Zayn Malik’s tattoos, including his crossed fingers tat, the Chinese symbol he ultimately covered up, and the New Zealand fantail tattoo inked on the back of his neck. Some people say the pop star’s playing card tattoo is also a symbol of good luck, and while we’re not entirely sure how much truth there is in this interpretation, we certainly wouldn’t be surprised!
