Lil Wayne Visits Tattoo Artist “Spider,” Adds Even More Ink to His Face

All things considered, it’s not that surprising that Lil Wayne (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) has gone under the needle for more tattoos on his face – he already has tons of tattoos inked on his cheeks, forehead and even on his eyelids, not to mention on his neck and the rest of his body – but at least one of the tats has us wondering if the rapper has gone a little too far this time. Earlier this week in California, Lil Wayne hit up tattoo artist Spider of San Celemente Tattoo and got what appears to be an Arabic tattoo over his left eyebrow and a pretty creepy-looking eye tattoo on his chin that some are calling the Eye of Providence.

We’ll start with Lil Wayne’s tattoo over his left eyebrow, which the website LilWayneHQ has identified as an Arabic phrase that translates to “momma’s boy.” The rapper has always been close with his mother, Jacida Carter, who had him as a teenager and basically raised him on her own after Wayne’s birth father, Dwayne Michael Turner, abandoned his wife and son not long after they got married. Turner was allegedly abusive towards Jacida, and after he left, Weezy dropped the “D” from his birth name, “Dwayne,” and started calling himself “Wayne” to distance himself from the man he was named after.

Wayne and Jacida had a pretty tough life as the rapper was growing up, and he obviously adores her. Weezy also has a tattoo dedicated to the man he considers his father, Reginald “Rabbit” McDonald, who was murdered when the rapper was just a kid. After Rabbit’s tragic death, Lil Wayne got his very first tattoo, which was dedicated to his father figure and reads “In Memory of Rabbit: It’s Up to Me.” Spider, the tattoo artist responsible for Lil Wayne’s new tattoos, posted a photo on Instagram of the rapper’s Arabic tattoo on December 19, along with the caption “Couple pieces I did on my man Lil’Wayne. Very hospitable, and professional client, thanks, Wayne!”lil wayne face tattoos

At the same time, Spider also posted an Instagram photo of Lil Wayne with another tattoo of a large eye inked in black and white on the point of his chin, designed to look like the skin on Weezy’s chin is tearing apart to reveal the eye. According to LilWayneHQ, Lil Wayne’s chin tattoo depicts the Eye of Providence, or the all-seeing eye of God, which is usually interpreted as representing divine providence, or the eye of God watching over humankind. We have to say that Weezy’s creepy eye tattoo looks pretty different from the typical Eye of Providence tattoo design, but we’ll have to wait to hear from the rapper himself about the meaning behind the mysterious ink!
