It’s a tale as old as time. Girl and boy get married. Girl gets wedding date tattooed on her back. Girl and boy break up. Girl gets huge moth tattoo to cover up her mistake. Okay, so it may not be a tale as old as time per say, but in this day and age, when wedding date tattoos are almost as common as wedding rings, we are seeing more and more cover-ups like the huge new moth back tattoo Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco got to hide her marriage mistake.

Kaley Cuoco and ex, Ryan Sweeting, were married for only 21 months before the actress filed for divorce this past September, and Kaley decided to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday last week with a trip to the tattoo shop to cover up the wedding date tat she got inked on her back as a tribute to the couple’s marriage. On November 25, Kaley posted a photo showing her in the middle of a tattoo session, and she then shared a photo of the completed ink, which features a large moth inked in the center of her upper back and was done by artist Justin Nero at Studio City Tattoo in Studio City, California.

As an explanation for her new moth tattoo cover-up, Kaley Cuoco joked in an Instagram caption, “@nero_sct the deep, meaningful, larger than life meaning behind this beautiful piece of ink, is…it covered the last one.” Proving that she’s not afraid to laugh at herself, in the mid-tattoo-session picture Kaley posted prior to sharing the completed ink, the actress wrote, “Thank you @nero_sct @studiocitytattoo for helping me right my wrongs…note to self – do not mark your body with any future wedding dates #under30mistakes #donttakeyourselftooseriouslykids.”

Lucky for Kaley Cuoco, she was able to laugh good-naturedly about her couples tattoo mistake – and get it covered up, pronto – unlike some other celebrities out there, who we think may be stuck with tattoo reminders of their failed relationships for life (we’re looking at you Tyga, Khloe Kardashian, Zayn Malik and Justin Bieber!). On a side note, Kaley Cuoco’s 30th birthday also fell on the Monday after Thanksgiving, which may have been the real inspiration behind her wedding date tattoo cover-up…new beginnings and all that. What do you all think of Kaley’s new moth back tattoo??
